Stefanos Leonardos is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the group of Assistant Professor Georgios Piliouras at SUTD and member of the “Testing for Blockchain Security by Design” project. His current research focuses on the study of cryptocurrencies and specifically, on the understanding of the economic incentives that underpin the consensus mechanisms in the prevalent blockchain protocols.
His general interests lie in game theory, at the interface of economics and mathematics. He has worked on equilibrium concepts, oligopolistic competition, voting systems and strategic behaviour of customers in queues.
Stefanos earned his PhD in game theory at the Mathematics Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) as a fellow of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation. He holds an MSc in Statistics and Operations Research as valedictorian from NKUA and a Diplom with distinction in Mathematics from TU Darmstadt.
